Deposits
CCUG accepts strains for characterisation and identification. Identification is dependent upon the state of the taxonomy at the time of analyses. Additional analyses may be requested by the customer and may be carried out by the CCUG. Strains submitted for identification may be maintained in the CCUG, unless otherwise agreed with the depositor. The policy of the CCUG is to list reference and other interesting strains on-line that have been received. The CCUG Curator makes the final decisions concerning entry or withdrawal of strains in the on-line database.
CCUG accepts deposit of strains that are being proposed as type strains of novel taxa.
Sweden is signatory to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the regulations of the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS). As such, CCUG is obligated to insure that origins, sources and histories of strains, as well as any required documents and agreements regarding sampling, acquisition, transfer, access and utilization of strains, are documented.
Customers may obtain information through the CCUG on-line search engine. CCUG holds well-characterised reference strains, but also poorly described strains; it is essential that customers carefully check information displayed on-line. CCUG staff is able to provide authentication and quality control information on many strains and to guide customers toward strains for their workIf a strain has been deposited in CCUG, it is understood that it may be distributed to third parties; exceptions require written agreement between the Depositor and the CCUG Curator. In such cases, details of any restrictions must be provided to the CCUG Curator to better assess whether the strain is suitable for deposit in the CCUG. CCUG agrees to requested restrictions only in exceptional cases. CCUG does not accept patent strains for long-term storage. Strains deposited from industry will be listed on-line as 'Anonymous'.

Every effort is made to ensure the authenticity and the highest quality of strain material. Virtually all strains leaving the CCUG have undergone quality control analyses for viability, purity and identification. However, the CCUG does not issue any warranty. Customers will receive free replacements if dispatched strains are found to be unsuitable by the CCUG.
CCUG does not work with viruses, obligately symbiotic microorganisms or extremophiles. CCUG maintains a small collection of yeast and filamentous fungi to facilitate national accreditation. For such organisms customers are recommended to contact an international mycology collection (see links for Culture Collections).
Orders
Customers accept responsibility to confirm whether they fulfil national laws and regulations for handling the microorganisms ordered. CCUG does not send strains to private individuals. Risk Group 3 and other potentially hazardous strains (dual-use) are distributed under national and EU regulations.
Neither CCUG nor the Department of Clinical Microbiology of Sahlgrenska University Hospital is responsible or liable for damages or injuries resulting from the handling of strains received.
